I’ll tell you that he’s definitely still interested. In the instant that he’s hurt, he’ll burn all the pictures; he’s impulsive. But a thousand years on the planet have given him a certain degree of patience, so I think he’ll come around. I don’t want to call it love, but he’s absolutely infatuated with her. As far as I know, his motives are genuine with Caroline, and it’s not part of some greater scheme or some greater manipulation. He does want to show her the world. He’s not ready to give up yet.

He's a bad ass with a fragile heart. He's complicated, tortured, and constantly has his walls up because he's been hurt so much. He loves with everything he has and hates with everything he has and it makes your heart hurt. He's a fucking survivor that puts up with so much shit, so much rejection, and is willing to be the most hated man if it means keeping the ones he loves safe. His moments of selflessness never need an audience because he's Damon fucking Salvatore and he doesn't give a fuck what anybody thinks of him unless it's the woman he loves. He loves forever and if you're his girl, he will always protect you and make you the center of his world. He will just want you to be happy. He's mastered his facade of not caring and being a monster because he CARES TOO MUCH AND IT ALWAYS ENDS BADLY FOR HIM.
